Motionhouse’s Breathtaking Dance-Circus Production Hidden Comes to The New Theatre, Peterborough

Thursday 24th – Saturday 26th April 2025

The internationally renowned dance-circus company Motionhouse returns to Peterborough with its brand-new production, Hidden, a visually stunning and thought-provoking exploration of the internal and external conflicts that shape our lives. Running for three performances only at The New Theatre from 24th – 26th April, Hidden is a spectacular fusion of dance, circus, digital projection, and an evocative soundscape that promises to leave audiences spellbound.

A Story of Conflict, Connection, and the Power of Hidden Voices

At a time when division seems more prominent than ever, Hidden delves into the challenges of modern society, exploring the struggles we face both within ourselves and in the world around us. Through a visceral movement language, breathtaking choreography, and gravity-defying circus skills, Hidden examines what it means to be heard, and whether hidden voices can ultimately push through to the light.

Building on the global success of Motionhouse’s previous productions, including Nobody and Charge, Hidden takes their signature dance-circus fusion to new heights, incorporating innovative digital projections that transform the stage into a living film. The result is a dynamic and immersive performance that seamlessly blends the physical and the digital in a way that only Motionhouse can achieve.

A Trailblazing Company Led by Visionary Creatives

Founded by Louise Richards and Kevin Finnan MBE, Motionhouse has been at the forefront of contemporary dance and circus performance for over 35 years. Artistic Director Kevin Finnan is renowned for his visually striking productions, including his role as Choreographer and Movement Director of the London 2012 Paralympic Games Opening Ceremony. Under the leadership of Executive Director Louise Richards, the company has continuously pushed artistic boundaries, pioneering new ways to connect movement, technology, and storytelling.

Their work has been performed across the UK and internationally, with past productions featuring at major cultural events, including the European Capital of Culture celebrations in Denmark and Romania. Hidden continues their legacy of innovation, offering audiences in Peterborough a chance to witness world-class, cutting-edge performance right on their doorstep.

A Production Not to Be Missed

Featuring a cast of highly skilled dancers and circus artists, Hidden delivers an emotional, high-energy spectacle unlike anything else on stage today. With gravity-defying lifts, powerful ensemble work, and a pulsating original soundtrack, the production takes audiences on a journey that is both visually stunning and deeply moving.

In addition to the performances, a special post-show Q&A with members of the Motionhouse company will take place after the Friday matinee. This is a fantastic opportunity for students, schools, and colleges interested in dance, circus, and digital performance to gain behind-the-scenes insights into the creative process, making it an unmissable event for aspiring performers and theatre enthusiasts alike.
